England pacer Josh Tongue delivered a brilliant delivery to dismiss KL Rahul during the 30th over of India’s second innings on Day 4 of the second Test at Edgbaston. India resumed the day with Karun Nair and Rahul at the crease, aiming to build on their strong lead.
Josh Tongue began his bowling with rhythm and pace, and struck on the very first ball of his over as he delivered a full-length delivery that angled into the stumps.
Rahul failed to get fully forward as he went for a drive, but the ball seamed away just enough to beat the outside edge and rattle the middle stump. The extra pace and late movement made it a near-unplayable delivery

India had earlier scored a dominant 587 in their opening innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal built a good platform with 87, then Ravindra Jadeja scored an important 89 in the middle order. However, it was skipper Shubman Gill who stole the show with a brilliant 269-run innings that included 33 boundaries. Washington Sundar pitched in with a crucial 42 near the finish. Shoaib Bashir was England’s standout bowler, taking three wickets, while Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue each took two.
In response, England scored 407 in their first innings. The highlight was a magnificent stand between Harry Brook (158) and Jamie Smith (184) who contributed 303 runs off 368 balls for the sixth wicket. However, the rest of the batting order struggled, with six batters going for ducks. India’s bowling was led by Mohammed Siraj, who took six wickets, with Akash Deep taking four and cleaning up the remainder.
With a 180-run lead at the end of Day 3, India came into their second innings in a strong position. By Lunch on Day 4, they had extended their lead past 350 runs, but lost a few quick wickets as Karun Nair (26), and Rahul were dismissed in the morning session.
