Akash Deep, the right-arm pacer, contributed a fiery moment late on Day 3 when he hit a stray ball from Jofra Archer for six. He stepped in when Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed, having scored 72 off 131 balls, and made an immediate impact.
Archer strayed onto the pads on the first delivery of the 116th over, and Deep confidently flicked it over deep backward square leg, where the fielder was close to the rope, and the ball went comfortably over for a tremendous six, resulting in important runs for India.

The third day of the Lord’s Test began on a high one, with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant putting on a 141-run partnership for fourth wicket. Pant struck 74 from 112 balls before being run out by England captain Ben Stokes just before lunchtime. After the interval, Rahul scored his tenth Test century, his second at Lord’s, but was removed soon after, edging a flighted delivery from Shoaib Bashir to Harry Brook at first slip.
Gill & Co. were under strain, but Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy held the innings together with a 72-run stand for the sixth wicket off 165 deliveries. Reddy scored a tough 30 off 91 balls. Jadeja later formed another 50-run partnership with Washington Sundar for the seventh wicket, providing additional fight for the visitors as they levelled the scores before being bowled out for 387.
Earlier, England scored 387 in their first innings, paced by Joe Root’s 104, Jamie Smith’s 51, and Brydon Carse’s 56. Jasprit Bumrah led India’s bowling attack with a five-wicket haul, removing the stumps four times and ended with 5/74. With 47 wickets in England, Bumrah became India’s second-highest wicket-taker, after only Ishant Sharma (48).
The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is tied at 1-1, with England winning the first Test at Headingley and India responding with a historic triumph at Edgbaston, aided by Shubman Gill’s extraordinary aggregate of 430 runs across both innings. The third Test at Lord’s promises to be a nail-biter, with both teams desperate to seize the lead in the series.
