The first session of Day 4 of the Lord’s Test between India and England was a thrilling encounter as both teams attempted to shift the tide in their favour. India took four wickets, while England scored 96 runs in 24 overs at a pace of four.
Harry Brook’s wicket was the last to fall in the opening session. England’s white ball captain came out to bat as the hosts were struggling at 50/3. Instead of retreating inside a shell and attempting to weather the storm, Brook chose to fight fire with fire.
The right-handed batsman hit Akash Deep for two straight boundaries, executing the ramp shot flawlessly on both occasions.
This came when substitute wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel stepped up to the stumps to prevent Brook from leaving the crease and preventing any movement that the Bengal spinner was hoping for.
After the back-to-back boundaries, Deep appeared shaken, and Indian captain Shubman Gill opted to send up a good leg fielder to prevent Brook from repeating the ramp shot. However, the 26-year-old appeared unconcerned with the field shift and smashed a six over long-off.
Brook attempted a sweep shot in Deep’s next over to keep the Bengal seamer under strain. However, he went too far to the off-side and was bowled behind the legs. Deep was ecstatic following the dismissal because he hadn’t been having a good time in the Test match before to it. He was wicketless in the first innings and was unable to contribute significantly with the bat. In the second inning, he was not offered a new ball. The wicket will boost the 28-year-old’s confidence.
