Indian lost the third Test against England by 22 runs at the renowned Lord’s Cricket Ground in London as part of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. The thrilling match lived up to its expectations, with both teams fighting hard to shift the tide in their favour.
The Lord’s, widely known as the Home of Cricket, is renowned for its rich history and tradition. Cricketers hope to play at the legendary arena at least once during their careers. The venue has hosted several great matches over the years, and The Baggy Blues’ most recent showdown with The Three Lions was surely one of them.
There is also a custom of ringing the renowned bell at the ancient cricket stadium before the game begins. The five-minute bell-ringing ritual was maintained in the third Test as well. One active and two past Indian players were given the honour of ringing the bell on three of the five days of exciting cricket action in London.
Indian cricketers who rang the bell in Lord’s Test
1. Sachin Tendulkar

The famous Sachin Tendulkar rang the opening bell on Day 1 of the Lord’s Test. Prior to this, Tendulkar was celebrated at a private event inside the Lord’s Museum, when he revealed his own portrait alongside former MCC President Mark Nicholas. The Master Blaster is the best run-scorer in international cricket, with 34,357 runs in three formats.
2. Cheteshwar Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara, an active cricketer, is not now part of India’s Test team but is in England giving commentary. The former India No. 3 rang the bell to begin play on Day 3. He admitted that he was worried about ringing the bell because there was so much emphasis on the occasion and he didn’t want to mess it up. Pujara has played 103 Tests and five One-Day Internationals for the Men in Blue. He’s still slogging it out in domestic cricket, aiming to make it back to the national squad.
3. Mithali Raj

Mithali Raj is one of the best ladies to ever play the game. Raj has the most runs of any female player in international cricket, at 10,868. The former India captain rang the bell before the fourth day of the Lord’s Test. Later, she stated that it was a memorable occasion for her. The 42-year-old also recalled some of her previous matches at the stadium, including the 2017 ODI World Cup final.
