Kane Williamson, a New Zealand international, made an incredible grab at the wide long-off fence during Surrey’s game versus Middlesex in the ongoing Men’s Vitality Blast 2025 tournament. Because of Williamson’s utter brilliance, ace opener Jason Roy was forced to walk back to the shed.
The moment of brilliance came on the final ball of the seventh over of the first innings. Roy lofted Luke Hollman’s over-pitched delivery to the right of the cover region. The Kiwi player deviated to his left from his original wide long-off stance to complete the catch near to the boundary rope while diving on his follow-through.
The BlackCaps player did an excellent job of keeping his body from trickling over the fence by elevating his legs in the air quickly after catching the ball. The total effort of running towards the ball and then modifying his body while sliding to keep his lower body from coming into touch with the rope garnered him a round of applause from the Lord’s crowd.

Middlesex lost the South Group match by eight runs. Chris Jordan conceded only 10 runs in the fourth over, finishing with superb numbers of 2/28 in his four-over quota. Earlier in the day, Will Jacks got his side off to a strong start (52 off 36). Tom Curran (47 off 22) played his bit with the bat admirably.
Ryan Higgins gave up 33 runs in his four overs in the first innings. This victory extended Surrey’s winning streak to four and put Middlesex in desperate straits at ninth place on the table. The final match will take place on Friday, July 18. Middlesex and Surrey have won three and ten of their thirteen group stage matches, respectively.
