Bharat Army, the official Indian cricket fans group, will turn The Oval pink on Day 3 (August 2) of the fifth and final Test against England. Part of Pink Day, spectators in Block 7 of the Bharat Army Stand will wear special pink jerseys to support Lymphoma Action, the UK’s only charity dedicated to supporting people with the fifth most frequent cancer.
Hundreds of fans will support lymphoma patients at The Oval in pink. Lymphoma Action supports the campaign, which has garnered online attention.
“Thank you so much for helping us to make sure no one has to face lymphoma alone.”
Founder of the Bharat Army, Rakesh Patel, mentioned that Cricket is a source to bring people together,
And the cause will be a form of unity to support Lymphoma Action and those battling lymphoma.
“Cricket brings people together like few things can, and this Pink Day is about using that spirit of unity to shine a light on a vital cause. We’re proud to support Lymphoma Action and hope this gesture inspires our community to stand up, show up, and give back in whatever way they can. The Bharat Army is determined to make a meaningful difference together,” said Rakesh Patel, founder of the Bharat Army.
Siraj-Prasidh wreaks havoc
Meanwhile, Day 2 of the Test began with India being bundled out for 224 earlier in the morning, thanks to a 5-wicket haul from Gus Atkinson. However, the visitors India bounced back into the match with a brilliant bowling performance.
England looked in a good position at lunch on 109 for 1, courtesy of a strong opening stand by Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett. But Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna delivered an impressive spell in the second session to get India back in the game. Siraj’s spell of 3 for 35 broke the back of England’s top order, removing Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Jacob Bethell.
Prasidh had figures of 4 for 60, removing Crawley and then running through the lower middle order, including Jamie Smith and Jamie Overton. England’s score stood at 215 for 8 at tea. However, with rain affecting play, at the time of writing the scorecard read 242 for 8, with the home team leading by just 18 runs.
