On Friday, August 1, Bengal cricketer Priyajit Ghosh died while working out in the gym. The promising talent experienced a heart attack and could not be revived. The tragic news left his friends, family, and teammates in despair.
Priyajit Ghosh lived in Bolpur, which is part of Birbhum district.
He had huge hopes of playing for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and eventually making it to the national team. Cricket was more than a sport for him; it was a kind of meditation.
He demonstrated his skill at a young age, becoming the leading run-scorer in the inter-district under-16 cricket tournament held by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) during the 2018-19 season. He was even recognised by the CAB, and that medal still has a particular place in his trophy case.
Priyajit visited a gym in Bolpur’s Mission Compound on Friday to stay in shape for the forthcoming season. He took fitness seriously, so he went to the gym on a daily basis, lifted weights, and worked on his cardio. He would have been looking for a spot on the Bengals’ roster in the coming months, and he had been working hard in the offseason to get in top shape. Tragically, while sweating during his workout, he became unwell and died shortly thereafter from a heart collapse.
When he was transferred to a local medical facility, physicians proclaimed him dead. His unexpected death has shocked the cricket community. Priyajit leaves behind his mother and father. His loved ones are still processing the shocking news that has forever altered their lives.
Priyajit’s death serves as a reminder to everyone about the unpredictable nature of life. This is a tremendous loss, not only for the Ghosh family, but also for the lovely sport.
