The world is privy to the friendship of Virat Kohli, the renowned cricketer, and Sunil Chhetri, India’s most celebrated footballer. The duo has transcended the confines of their respective sports to form a friendship that echoes close brotherhood. The two have regular chats, and Chhetri recently revealed that he was impressed by Virat’s obsession with fitness despite being one of the world’s greatest players.
Virat recently passed a necessary fitness assessment in London, England, where he presently lives with his family. The tests were required of all players, and because the New Delhi native could not make himself accessible at BCC’s Centre of Excellence facility in Bengaluru, he had his tests done in England, the findings of which he shared with Chhetri.
“A few days back, he (Kohli) was sending me his scores of one of the tests he was doing. It is so addictive, and it is so good to know these kinds of people. On your bad days, when you feel a bit lethargic, you see them and think, ‘let’s go’. When you are at the top, everyone wants to be a Virat Kohli or a Ronaldo, and for these two to keep their place is unbelievable,” Chhetri revealed via the DesiPL podcast as quoted by Indian Express.
“I don’t know Ronaldo personally. I have watched him, studied him. I know Virat Kohli.
The one common thing about these two is that they are just not happy with what they have already achieved. I tried in my whatever way to inculcate the same thing because once when you start getting into that circle where you start thinking about what you have done, good or bad, then you are not in the same track that you want to be,” he added.
The 36-year-old is set to be back in cricketing action with the ODI series against Australia Down Under, which will get underway in October. Retired from Tests and T20 Internationals, Kohli will play only 50-over internationals for the Men in Blue, and reports suggest he is willing to retire after the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be played in Africa.
