On Monday, September 15, the United Arab Emirates defeated Oman by 42 runs in Match 7 of the Asia Cup 2025 at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Cricket Stadium. The hosts put in a strong performance after being thrashed by India in their tournament opener.
Alishan Sharafu and Muhammad Waseem took UAE to 50 without losing a wicket at the end of the powerplay. The final delivery of the 11th over produced Oman’s first wicket, with Sharafu going for 51 off 38 to Jiten Ramanandi. Waseem completed his fifty with a maximum in the fifteenth over.
Ramanandi ended up giving only 24 runs in four overs and taking two wickets. An 18-run penultimate over sent UAE above 170, finishing with 172/5 on the board. Shah Faisal conceded 45 runs in four overs, while Aamir Kaleem bowled only one after giving 14.
Kaleem had a forgettable innings, being removed for 2 off 2 in the chase’s first over. By the conclusion of the sixth over, skipper Jatinder Singh (20 off 10) was one of two batters to fall. Oman were on 50 by the time half of their squad returned to the cabin, with the required run rate increasing.
T20I rookie Aryan Bisht’s 32-ball struggle ended on the fifth delivery of the 13th over, as Oman was bowled out for 130 in 18.4 overs. Junaid Siddique was the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets for 23 runs. Haider Ali (2/22 in four overs) and Muhammad Jawadullah (2/18 in three overs) provided him with solid support.

2. Waseem gets to 24th T20I fifty in style
Waseem got to his fifty on the fifth ball of the 15th over when he threw his hands at a flighted delivery outside the off stump. Waseem launch the ball well over the long-off for a soaring maximum to get to his milestone.

3. Jatinder unleashes three fours on the trot
Despite the loss of the early wicket, Jatinder did not hold back and stroked three fours in a row. Muhammad Rohid conceded 13 runs in his first over as Oman raced to 21.
