India Taniya Bhatia, a women’s cricket player, is more than prepared to enter the first Women’s Premier League in 2023. (WPL). The big event is slated to start on March 4, 2023.
During the course of 22 days, up to five teams will face off against one another, with the final scheduled on March 26, 2023. A total of 448 players from different countries were up for bid in the first auction. Among them, 169 cricket players from other countries and 269 Indians. 19 of them, it should be noted, were from partner nations.
In the WPL, Taniya Bhatia will play for the Delhi Capitals. Her base price of Rs. 30 lakhs was paid by the franchise. In August 2022, Bhatia last competed for India. Richa Ghosh then made a name for herself on the international stage thanks to her powerful hitting, which won over fans of women’s cricket and previous cricketers alike.
Taniya Bhatia said, “I’m treating this as a big chance since it will be a terrific learning opportunity.”
“I’m quite happy. Legends from every nation will be playing alongside us. Playing with them is a huge lift in and of itself. Well, it’s similar to playing international cricket. Due to the presence of talents like Meg Lanning and Marizanne Kapp, the gap with the major players is closed. They are well-known and have support from everyone worldwide, “added Bhatia.
“They are fierce competitors when we play against Australia and South Africa. Thus, it will be an excellent chance to learn. I regard this as a significant opportunity, “In an interview with the Hindustan Times, the 25-year-old made the following statement.
The female wicketkeeper-batter is optimistic that the WPL will support budding female cricketers in their endeavors and raise awareness of the game among spectators. She believed that playing with the top players from other countries, especially those who were well-known in international cricket, would help close the playing skills gap between them and the Indian players.
Taniya sees the WPL as a huge chance to learn from the greatest and take full use of it to hone and showcase her abilities on the big stage. It will also be a crucial tool for trying to reestablish oneself on the national side.
