Sanju Samson, an Indian wicketkeeper, took a fantastic low catch to eliminate Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman on September 21 in Dubai during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four match. India, headed by skipper Suryakumar Yadav, won the toss and chose to bowl first in this highly anticipated match.
The opportunity arose in the second over, when Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya delivered an off-cutter by running his fingers across the ball and lightly grasping it off a length. Fakhar edged the delivery, sending it low to Samson. The wicketkeeper showed remarkable reflexes by keeping his gloves close to the ground.
However, the catch was referred to the third umpire for further assessment. After a thorough examination, including a large zoom on the replay, the third umpire declared the batter ejected. Zaman walked back, shaking his head, as the final decision was clearly posted on the huge screen. Pakistan’s head coach, Mike Hesson, was also dissatisfied with the result, implying that the umpire may have acted carelessly.
The left-handed opener kept the spectators engaged during his brief appearance, scoring 15 runs off nine balls, including a boundary moments before being dismissed. Fakhar had already made his presence felt in the match’s second over, slamming two straight boundaries, indicating an aggressive start to the first innings.

Hardik continues to be a thorn in Pakistan’s side, with an outstanding record versus their arch enemies. In eight T20I innings against Pakistan, he has 15 wickets, the most of any bowler in India-Pakistan T20I matches.
In the tournament’s previous group stage match, India stunned Pakistan by seven wickets. Kuldeep Yadav excelled with three wickets, while Suryakumar guided the successful chase with an unbeaten 47, securing valuable points for the Men in Blue.
With this being the second clash between the two nations in the Super Four stage, anticipation is high. Fans are eager to see which side will assert dominance and have the last laugh in one of cricket’s most high-voltage rivalries.
