[WATCH] IND vs WI 2025: Shubman Gill, KL Rahul break into impromptu dance while fielding at slips

The first Test between India and the West Indies, which is currently underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, has been a one-sided victory for India. While the hosts are closing in on a convincing victory, an on-field incident drew notice. On Day 3, captain Shubman Gill and batsman KL Rahul performed an unplanned dance while fielding in the slip cordon.

During the opening session of Day 3, as Jasprit Bumrah prepared to bowl his next delivery, Gill demonstrated a dance step to Rahul. The latter immediately copied the manoeuvre. The short video of their dance rapidly became popular on social media.

KL Rahul smashes his second century at home

Gill, captaining India for the first time in a home Test, looked clinical with his decisions. Meanwhile, Rahul smashed a century in the first innings, making it his first Test ton on home soil since 2016. It was also his 11th Test ton and 10th as an opener, pushing him past Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir on the all-time list of Indian openers with the most Test centuries.

Earlier on Day 3, India declared their first innings at 448/5; thanks to centuries from Rahul (100), Dhruv Jurel (125), and Ravindra Jadeja (104*). Gill also chipped in with a 50. For Gill, his fifty made him only the sixth Indian captain to score 50-plus on Test captaincy debut at home, placing him alongside legends such as Lala Amarnath and Sunil Gavaskar.

On the other hand, the West Indies have struggled against India’s bowling attack. Bundled out for just 162 in the first innings, they were forced to follow on. Mohammed Siraj’s fiery spells earned him four wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah (3/42) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/25) kept the visitors under pressure.
