Shamar Joseph, the West Indies’ fast bowling all-rounder, has been ruled out of the present tour of Bangladesh owing to shoulder soreness. Furthermore, Jediah Blades suffered a stress fracture in his lower back, causing him to return home for additional rehabilitation. For the remainder of the ODI series, Akeal Hosein and Ramon Simmonds will take their place.
Notably, Shamar Joseph had an injury earlier this month, forcing him to miss the just finished Test series against India, which the visitors lost 0-2.
While Joseph travelled with the squad for the Bangladesh white-ball series, where he was initially included in both the ODI and T20I squads, he will not participate further in the series. He did not play in the first ODI in Dhaka, which the Caribbeans defeated by 74 runs.
The second game will now be played on Tuesday, October 21, at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, with the Shai Hope-led side facing a do-or-die situation to keep the series alive. They failed to chase down a low score in the previous match, and if given the opportunity to bat second again, the side will seek to avoid repeating that performance, drawing the series 1-1 with the Mehidy Hasan Miraz-led side.
Following the third and final ODI at the same location, the teams will face off in three 20-over matches in Chattogram on October 27, 29, and 31.
