Sophie Ecclestone, a left-arm spinner for England, had an MRI that showed a slight damage to the joint adjacent to her collar bone. She will continue to be evaluated in advance of Wednesday’s (October 29) ICC Women’s World Cup semi-final matchup against South Africa.
Notwithstanding the setback, the England cricket team is hopeful that she will recover in time to play in the match.
According to Sophie Ecclestone’s left shoulder MRI scan results, the joint adjacent to her collar bone has a slight damage. The England and Wales Cricket Board said in a statement that she will continue to be evaluated before Wednesday’s match against South Africa in the ICC Women’s World Cup semi-final.
Ecclestone has been essential to England’s run to the semifinals.
With 12 wickets at an economy of 3.98 in 6 games, she is equal with colleague Linsey Smith for fifth place in this tournament’s wicket-taking standings.
With five victories and a shared total with Pakistan following a washout, England finished second in the standings with 11 points.
