Legendary domestic batter Priyank Panchal has stated that the ongoing trade talks between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals for Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson ahead of the 2026 IPL should be put on hold. Panchal believes that if CSK proceeds with the trade arrangement, it could be one of their biggest blunders.
The Gujarat cricketer went on to say that the Chennai-based club has built a reputation for not letting go of its top players over the years, and Jadeja should continue to play for the five-time champions. Similarly, Sanju Samson has been the poster boy for the Rajasthan Royals throughout the years, but he has yet to win a crown with them despite coming close several times.
“Trading Jadeja bhai for Sanju could be one of the bigger mistakes CSK could make. For a franchise known for sticking by their legends, they shouldn’t be letting go of someone who’s served them so tirelessly for so long, won multiple championships, and is an icon of the team,” Panchal noted via his official social media handle on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter).

Multiple reports in the media have confirmed that RR and CSK are considering the trade between Jadeja and Samson.
However, RR want the left-handed all-rounder and Dewald Brevis from CSK for letting go their long-time skipper Samson. As a result, it remains to be seen how the sides will go about their strategy before heading into the IPL 2026 mini auctions, scheduled to be held in late December.
Reports have also suggested that Samson is no longer willing to continue with the Rajasthan-based franchise, a side he made his IPL debut with. As a result, the franchise is in talks with multiple teams, including CSK for a possible trade-off for the attacking wicketkeeper-batter. It will be interesting to see what eventually happens, as the deadline for the trading window is right around the corner.
