India announce U19 A and B teams for tri-series, no place for Vaibhav Suryavanshi

The BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru will host the competition from November 17–30.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the India U19 ‘A’ and ‘B’ squads for the forthcoming tri-series, which also includes Afghanistan. The event will be held from November 17 to November 30 at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

The tri-series will feature India A, India B, and Afghanistan U19 competing in a double round-robin style,

With the top two teams facing off in the final on November 30. Each team will play two games against each other. Meanwhile, top players Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi have not been selected.

According to the BCCI, Mhatre was not considered for selection because he is currently playing in the Ranji Trophy for Maharashtra, but Suryavanshi has been nominated to the India A squad for the next ACC Rising Stars Asia Cup. As a result, both players were unable to compete in the Bengaluru series.

Punjab’s Vihaan Malhotra, who impressed earlier this year with 277 runs against England U19 across two Youth Tests, will lead India U19 A. Abhigyan Kundu has been appointed vice-captain and wicketkeeper. The squad also includes names like Wafi Kachchhi, Anmoljeet Singh, and Henil Patel.

Hyderabad’s Aaron George will captain India U19 B, with Gujarat’s Vedant Trivedi serving as his deputy. The team features Rahul Dravid’s son, Anvay Dravid, as one of the wicketkeepers, alongside players such as Yuvraj Gohil and Maulyarajsinh Chavda.
