Kemar Roach has rejoined the West Indies Test squad for the three-match series against New Zealand. The three red ball matches are set for December.
Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph are out because of injuries. Roach last played a test in January 2025. His 85-Test experience will be crucial in an attack that will also feature 29-year-old Ojay Shields. Shields has received his first call-up to the side.
Kemar Roach Hodge made his final Test appearance for the West Indies in Multan, which was also Roach’s most recent game.
Khary Pierre, 34, who made his Test debut against India lately, was not selected.
Miles Bascombe, Director of Cricket at Cricket West Indies, discussed how the high-performance camp in Antigua was put up to expose the red-ball unit to comparable conditions as those found in New Zealand.
“New Zealand has traditionally been one of the toughest places for any touring side. The recent high-performance camp here in Antigua was designed to replicate, as closely as possible, the conditions we expect to face, particularly the pace-friendly surfaces,” stated Bascombe, as quoted by.
