After a series of poor ODI performances, ace pundit Aakash Chopra has harshly criticised Ravindra Jadeja. The left-arm spinner got no wickets against New Zealand and struggled with the bat.
India lost a shocking series to New Zealand despite winning the first match. Despite missing numerous regulars, the visitors won the series 2-1. India’s spinners, especially Jadeja, struggled, raising questions about his future in the format.
“A hefty claim. His name wasn’t on the Australia tour selection list. Since he didn’t play T20Is, workload management wasn’t needed. So he skipped Asia Cup. “Axar Patel did well, even though India lost that series,” Chopra stated on YouTube.
“After that, Jaddu got chances. Jaddu faced South Africa and New Zealand. Thus, he has played several ODIs but rarely completed his overs. His last five or six games have yielded one wicket. This guy hasn’t scored and conceded a lot. This is reality now “added.
Prior to New Zealand, Jadeja had a disappointing series against South Africa, taking only one wicket in three matches and not contributing with the bat.
Chopra thinks Jadeja may benefit from a good IPL.
Chopra also discussed whether a veteran pro will be selected again despite recent failures. He said Jadeja may catch up with a good IPL 2026 performance despite falling behind.
It’s unclear what will happen after six months. Ravindra Jadeja is definitely lagging behind. His T20I career is over, and Test cricket is off for eight months. He stated he would be discussed again if he plays well in the IPL.
Saurashtra all-rounder is one of India’s best ODI players and has been with Team India for over a decade. His remarkable career includes 2905 runs with the bat and 232 wickets in 210 ODIs.
