Regarding the batting form of his long-time teammate and India’s current T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, former World Cup winner Rohit Sharma has made a daring assertion. Rohit was discussing how important Suryakumar’s batting is to India.
Before the ICC Men’s World Cup 2026, the Indian squad will play a five-match Twenty20 International series against New Zealand. With their captain battling for form, all eyes will be on how he does in the series. In 2025, he had a terrible year at bat, amassing just 218 runs at a pitiful 13.62 average over 21 games.
Rohit discussed how the Men in Blue’s batting will be impacted and how they need to get the 35-year-old back to his best before the tournament.
“Whether the captain improves or not is not the point. if a player isn’t playing well. We are losing one of our seven or eight batters. It goes without saying that without our primary hitting power, it won’t be as effective as it could be. “The batting lineup suffers if Surya doesn’t play well,” Rohit stated on JioHotstar.
Rohit praised Suryakumar’s man-management abilities and said, “I think Surya has a lot of understanding regarding the game and the players who are playing with him, how to get the best out of them.”

Ajinkya Rahane offers Suryakumar encouragement, saying, “I feel he is putting too much pressure.”
Ajinkya Rahane, the former captain of India, too talked candidly about the Mumbai batter’s batting difficulties. Instead of enjoying the game, the KKR captain believed that the daring batter was overtaxing himself.
