Litton Das, the captain of Bangladesh T20, was recently asked about the team’s intentions for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. At a press conference for the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025–2026, a reporter posed the question to Litton Das, and Litton’s response astonished everyone.
Even though he is the team’s captain, Litton Das stated that he is unsure if Bangladesh would go to India for the international tournament. Additionally, he stated that the BPL teams’ current pitches are not suitable for training in front of the twenty-team competition, which is scheduled to begin in India and Sri Lanka on February 7.
“Are you certain we’ll participate in the World Cup? In actuality, we are not even sure if we will attend the World Cup at all, and there is still a long way to go. This wicket is far from perfect for Twenty20 cricket.
The Daily Star cited Litton Das as stating, “We had anticipated a much better wicket for a qualifier match.”
In light of the continuing cross-border disputes between India and Bangladesh, the International Cricket Council and the Bangladesh Cricket Board have been discussing moving Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup matches outside of India. The BCB’s position has not changed despite ICC’s attempts to persuade the Board.
According to the initial schedule, Bangladesh was supposed to play three of their four league stage games in Kolkata and one at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. After Mustafizur Rahman was barred from playing in the Indian Premier League by the BCCI, the BCB demanded that the original schedule be modified and that they be given matches outside of their borders.
The Bangladeshi government defended itself by enforcing a ban on IPL broadcasts in the nation and refusing to travel to India for the forthcoming international event. On Wednesday, January 21, a final decision regarding the T20 World Cup episode is anticipated, giving the tournament approximately two weeks to begin.
