After the current Test series between New Zealand and Sri Lanka is over, both teams will play each other in three one-day internationals (ODIs) starting on March 25. The first game will be played at Eden Park in Auckland. All-rounder Michael Bracewell will not be playing for the Black Caps because he will replace Will Jacks on Royal Challengers Bangalore for the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). As Bracewell will be missing the ODI series against Sri Lanka, the hosts have announced 23-year-old Rachin Ravindra as his replacement in the squad. The young player hasn’t played an ODI for the Black Caps yet, but when he does, he’ll be eager to make an impact on the team.
Ravindra has played in six T20Is for the Black Caps. He has scored 54 runs and taken six wickets in those games. He has also been on the national team three times, scoring 73 runs and getting three wickets.
The first ODI will be played on March 25. Rachin Ravindra will join the NZ team before the first game and should be a good replacement for Bracewell, who is in good form.
This is another chance for him to do well: Gary Stead, the coach of New Zealand, said this about Rachin Ravindra inclusion:
After it was announced that Michael Bracewell would be leaving the NZ camp after the Test series to play in the IPL, Gary Stead, the head coach of the Black Caps, spoke out about Bracewell’s decision.
“Since he first played for our white ball teams last year, Michael has been a big help. It’s exciting that he’ll have the chance to learn from the IPL, especially as an all-rounder who can bowl with spin.
This year’s World Cup is in India, so it’s great that players are getting more practice in those conditions, Gary Stead said in a New Zealand Cricket press release.
He also talked about Ravindra joining the team, saying, “This will be another good chance for him to spend time in the Black Caps environment.”
