KL Rahul, captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 3, 2023, in Chennai, stated that his side batted well. CSK defeated LSG by a score of 12 runs, unable to capitalize on the team’s first-game triumph over the Delhi Capitals.
KL Rahul remarked that his side batted exceptionally well but failed to capitalize on their early success. He also complimented the performances of Kyle Mayers and Ravi Bishnoi, adding that they had made significant contributions to the team.
“We batted well but failed to capitalize on a momentary upswing. Kyle Mayers is in good form; he was blazing them for the West Indies and he brings the same form and intent to this match. It is excellent to see how he has utilized the chance. I’ve played with Bishnoi for a while; he takes wickets when things are going poorly, puts his hand up, and restricts runs. It’s great to see diverse men raising their hands, “Rahul stated in a post-match interview.
We had a strong start but were unable to continue. KL Rahul
He continued by stating that they were unable to capitalize on little possibilities, which led to their loss. The game did not go their way, he added, but they will make a greater return in the next few games.
“Wouldn’t affect the outcome of the coin toss; we lost because we failed to capitalize on little opportunities. We made a strong start but were unable to continue. Rarely do we find four or five players caught on the boundary ropes; they needed to cross and will do it the following time. Today’s game did not go our way, but we intend to continue playing in this manner, “Rahul stated.
KL Rahul correctly called the toss and chose to bowl first. CSK’s opening duo of Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad produced one of the best powerplays in IPL history (79/0) and set LSG a goal of 218 runs. Despite fierce blows from Kyle Mayers (53), Marcus Stoinis (21), Nicholas Pooran (32), and Ayush Badoni (23), LSG was defeated with a score of 205/7.
