After two outstanding seasons with the Kolkata Knight Riders, Suryakumar Yadav joined the Mumbai Indians at the 2018 IPL auction.
Since then, the native has had a significant impact and helped Mumbai win two more championships. Due to the same, the 32-year-old has also represented his country and is presently ranked as the top T20I batsman in the world.
Upon contemplating his return to the Mumbai Indians and the Wankhede Stadium in particular, the cricketer stated that everything felt very special. In addition, he described how he felt after joining Mumbai and revealed that he vowed to work harder and perform more consistently to make the fans happy.
“My return to the Mumbai Indians in 2018 felt like a homecoming, with everyone greeting me. I had the same sentiment. When I first touched the earth, it was a very different sensation. Clearly, when you visit any stadium, you feel fantastic. Suryakumar Yadav told the Mumbai Indians, “You envision playing at the stadium, and the feeling you get when you make runs and play shots at the stadium is very different.”
“When the stadium was constructed, I was a frequent visitor. I’ve participated in domestic matches, age-group matches, and the IPL. I had MI between 2011 and 2013. After a brief separation, I was reunited with the franchise in 2018. After entering the stadium, I once again felt very special and realized that I would have to work extremely hard if I was to perform consistently in front of this incredible crowd in this magnificent stadium. The top-order batter added, “I’ll have to put forth quality efforts, and I’ve been working diligently since then, never looking back.”
However, the flamboyant batsman has yet to demonstrate his class in the current Indian Premier League season. Yadav scored only 15 runs off 16 deliveries against Royal Challengers Bangalore; therefore, he has a lot of room for improvement at the present.
