Suryakumar Yadav has yet to display his talent with the bat in the upcoming IPL 2023 after failing to make an impression in the recently finished ODI series against Australia. The flashy batsman has only scored 16 runs in his first two games, which is a significant cause for concern, especially given how important his experience is to the Mumbai Indians’ middle order.
Mark Boucher, the head coach of Mumbai, is hopeful that the 32-year-old will rediscover his form in future matches. He stated that the player will not be under excessive pressure and that the management will support him by presenting him with fresh obstacles to conquer.
“Suryakumar Yadav is a very gifted cricketer, arguably the best T20 player in the world. Although he hasn’t had many runs lately, he is still a superb player. I hope he can make things right for us soon. I don’t want to overburden him with responsibility.
“We’re all aware of his abilities. That’s just how cricket is played. There are brief periods when you battle with your form. Sportskeeda quoted Boucher as saying, “We’ll back him and try to set him some fresh challenges to keep his mind off his own game if that’s what would allow him to try to get some good form heading into the middle and end phases of the tournament.”
On that wicket, 157 wasn’t good enough. Mark Boucher
In game number 12, the Mumbai Indians, who were batting first against the Chennai Super Kings, had a lot of trouble getting going. Ishan Kishan and the captain, Rohit Sharma, got off to a strong start but were unable to capitalize on it. When only Tim David stood to make a statement, the middle order used to appear lifeless. They eventually scored 157 runs, which Boucher claimed was insufficient at the Wankhede.
Ajinkya Rahane made some excellent cricket plays, but in the end, it was their bowling that cost us. Check out their hitters and our bowlers. The number of runs on the board is insufficient. We had seven batsmen today, which is unusual for T20 cricket, especially now that we have impact players. On that wicket, our 157-point total was insufficient. We likely ought to have gotten 180 to 190,” the 46-year-old continued.
