Aiden Markram, captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), made an outstanding catch to assist in the dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav during a match against the Mumbai Indians (MI). On Tuesday, April 18, the two powerhouse franchises met at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad for match 25 of the ongoing IPL 2023 season.
Aiden Markram elected to bowl first after winning the toss for the Mumbai-based franchise.
After losing captain Rohit Sharma and flamboyant batsman Ishan Kishan for 87 runs, Mumbai have suffered another setback with the dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav.
In the fifth delivery of the twelfth over, Suryakumar faced pacer Marco Jansen. The batter was attempting to settle in and get into his element when Jansen struck as Suryakumar lobbed the ball wide of mid-off, where Markram caught it.
The SRH captain ran to his left and then lunged forward to take a spectacular catch, thereby assisting his team in dismissing the flamboyant batter for only seven runs. Notably, Jansen took two wickets in the same over, and Markram’s catch sent Ishan back to the dugout.
MI anticipates a competitive first-innings score
After losing their top order, the five-time IPL champions are relying on their middle order to stabilize the team’s performance. Rohit Sharma and company will attempt to post a respectable first-innings total so that the bowling unit can perform well during the pursuit.
Their head-to-head records have been quite close, resulting in consistently thrilling contests. In 19 matches between the two teams, Mumbai has prevailed 10 times, while the orange team has won nine.
After a dismal start to the season, Mumbai will be looking to win their third consecutive game. Rohit Sharma and company lost their first two games before winning their next two to maintain their momentum. It remains to be seen whether Mumbai can post a respectable total or whether Hyderabad will assert their dominance by making the necessary breakthroughs in the match.
