Rashid Khan lauded Noor Ahmad, his 18-year-old compatriot, for his outstanding performance in the Gujarat Titans‘ (GT) IPL 2023 encounter against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday, April 25 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The defending champions outclassed MI by 55 runs with a clinical performance to earn their fifth victory of the IPL season. The Michigan Wolverines have lost four of their seven contests this season.
In the match against MI, Noor took three wickets, dismissing Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tim David. The 18-year-old spinner has taken six wickets in his first three IPL contests. In June 2022, the adolescent made his international debut in a Twenty20 international against Zimbabwe.
Afghanistan’s superstar Rashid Khan praised the youngster’s performance, stating that it is a pleasure to have him on the team and bowl with him. The 24-year-old all-rounder continued by stating that Noor is putting in a tremendous amount of effort and merely wants to learn every time.
“It’s a pleasure to share this bowling partnership with him and have him on the team. This young child simply desires to learn. The Daily Star quoted Rashid Khan as saying, “He is working so diligently.”
Now that Noor has the opportunity, he is delivering: Rashid Rashid was especially impressed by the left-arm spinner’s improvement efforts since joining GT last year, despite the fact that he did not play last season. He claimed that Noor was constantly asking inquiries and bowling frequently in the nets. He stated that he is ecstatic that his efforts have finally been acknowledged, as it is a monumental achievement for both GT and Afghanistan.
“He bowled frequently in the nets and asked numerous inquiries. When I was in the gym at night, he would approach me and say, ‘let’s bowl here in the gym.’ Even at 1 or 2 a.m., he was in the gym bowling with me. That was the extent of his desire to improve and perform. Now that he has the opportunity, he is delivering. I am overjoyed for him. It is fantastic news for both GT and Afghanistan,” the 24-year-old added.
