On May 3, in game 45 of the IPL 2023 at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, great all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) outwitted Marcus Stoinis of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and dismissed him for just six runs off four deliveries.
At the toss, CSK captain MS Dhoni made the right choice to field first in Lucknow on a slower wicket. While LSG could only muster 31 runs during the powerplay, the visiting team managed to take three wickets.
Soon after the powerplay, captain Dhoni gave the ball to ace all-rounder Jadeja to make the breakthroughs, and the decision paid off as the star player quickly sent Marcus Stoinis back to the pavilion. Jadeja bowled a fullish ball outside leg on the fifth ball of the seventh over, getting good flight and great turn as the ball crashed into the off stump to dismiss Marcus Stoinis.
The LSG all-rounder eventually returned to the bench for a pitiful total of six runs off four balls as Jadeja took his first victim. The LSG all-rounder initially appeared stunned by the turn Jadeja got on the delivery. Maheesh Theekshana, meanwhile, took two wickets in a row by dismissing Manan Vohra and replacement captain Krunal Pandya for 10 and 0, respectively, leaving LSG in a vulnerable situation
On May 1, in a low-scoring match, the host side suffered a defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). With five victories and 10 points, they are now ranked third in the IPL Points Table. After losing to CSK by 12 runs in the first encounter on April 3, LSG will make a concerted effort to put their best foot forward.
