Corey Anderson, one of the most seasoned T20 players in the world, is excitedly anticipating the 2023 Sunoco Minor League Cricket Championship. The all-rounder from New Zealand stated that the competition is crucial for the development of American cricket.
The largest improvement in American cricket’s history will occur this summer. In July, I can’t wait to compete in minor league cricket.
The Sunoco Minor League Cricket championship, which will take place in August and September after the MLC, is crucial for the survival of American cricket, according to Anderson.
Sunoco will serve as the title sponsor for the third season of the largest national T20 championship in American cricket, according to a separate announcement from the MILC. Additionally, Laxmi, one of the top South Asian food companies in America, will be an official partner of the 2023 Minor League Cricket Championship.
This summer, the Sunoco Minor League Cricket Championship will be back, with over 150 games scheduled for August and September. More than 400 US-based players will be chosen to compete in the competition, which will include 26 teams, during the domestic player draft, which will take place in May. The full match schedule and draft date will be made public soon.
Anderson said in regards to the partnerships, “The support of the MiLC team owners and partners, including Sunoco and Laxmi, has made this pipeline possible. The type of competition we now have in the United States is creating a foundation of talent that we think will surprise the cricket world in the future, one year out from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup coming here.
In August 2022, the Seattle Thunderbolts, a team from the Pacific Northwest, won the second season of America’s first national T20 tournament, taking home a $150,000 first-place award after defeating the Atlanta Fire in the championship match.
