Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young opener for the Rajasthan Royals, is in the best shape of his life. He has scored 575 runs in 13 games so far in the IPL 2023, which is still going on. Former India opener Aakash Chopra thinks that the 21-year-old can soon make his India debut because he has scored a lot of runs for Mumbai in local cricket.
Chopra also said that Rinku Singh is another exciting young player who could soon join the national team. He praised the player for the Kolkata Knight Riders and pointed out that the middle-order batter’s five sixes off of Yash Dayal earlier in the season weren’t a mistake because he went on to score more than 400 runs in the season.
“I have, in fact, kept a time line for Yashasvi Jaiswal.
In the next 90 days, I think he will be on the Indian team. I think Rinku Singh is the other one, and it’s time to take him much more seriously. It wasn’t a fluke that he got five sixes. “He has scored at least 400 runs, and at the strike rate at which he has scored them, there is no other option from that batting position,” Chopra told the Hindustan Times.
“Don’t forget that these two aren’t just a T20 thing. Rinku Singh has a first-class average of 60, and in his short home career so far, Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored more than 1000 runs. So they have been doing well in other formats as well. It’s just that when it happens in the IPL, the world likes to pay more attention to a player,” he added.
At the moment, it looks like both Jaiswal and Rinku will have a hard time making it into the IPL playoffs. Both the Rajasthan Royals and the Kolkata Knight Riders have 12 points after 13 games. Their net run rate will determine their fate even if they win their final game of the league stage. On the IPL points table, RR is sixth and KKR is seventh right now.
