Cricket fans only think of one person when they hear the number 18, and that person is the famous Indian batter Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli is a mainstay on both the Indian national team and the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is known as one of the best hitters of this generation.
The 34-year-old was recently on Star Sports, where he talked about how important his shirt number (18) is to him. He claimed that although the number 18 initially came to him by chance, it has had a significant impact on his work and he senses a cosmic connection with it.
“To be honest, 18 started out as just a number that was given to me when I opened the India U-19 jersey for the first time. That was the first time my name and number were on the back, and I got 18. I didn’t ask for it; it was just given to me, but it turned out to be a very important number in my life,” Kohli told Star Sports in an interview.
“My first game for India was on August 18, and my father died on December 18. These are two of the most important dates in my life, and they both happened to be 18. I got the number long before either of these events, so there must be something cosmic about it.
“It still seems strange to me, even now, when we go to a game and I see a lot of people wearing my shirt number and name, along with a lot of other numbers and names. I never thought I’d be in this situation,” he said.
Virat Kohli will get RCB to the playoffs.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore are currently in fifth place on the IPL points table. They have played 12 games and earned 12 points. So far, the team has won six games in the event, and star batter Virat Kohli has had a lot to do with that. The team has also played very well so far.
Virat Kohli is in sixth place in the race for the IPL 2023 orange cap. He has scored 438 runs in 12 games so far. Bangalore still has two games left in the group rounds of the tournament. The team hopes that Kohli will be at his best in the remaining games and help them move on to the next round.
