In his newly published autobiography, “Faf Through Fire,” Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis wrote about the finer points of being a leader. The flashy batter is currently playing for RCB in the IPL 2023. He is having a great season so far, scoring 631 runs in 12 games and leading the league in runs.
Faf du Plessis has improved a lot as a player and as a leader over the course of his career. In his book, the 38-year-old went into the finer points of being a leader and talked about his impact on the sport. He also said that as a leader, he was “fanatical” about three core beliefs.
“As a leader, you wear many hats: you’re a player, a coach, and, as your power grows, a selector. An quote from the book “Faf du Plessis Through Fire” said, “You go to every bowling meeting and every batting meeting, and you are a part of every part of the team without being a micromanager.”
“In that way, I was almost a fanatic about three of our core values: honesty, ownership, and challenging each other from a place of sincerity. The first three pillars of perseverance, adaptability, and honesty were joined by the second and third pillars,” said another.

The RCB captain compared the rules of cricket to the rules of life and said that he is more of a “process-driven” person. He also used wise words to explain what it means to focus on a “process” by talking about the feelings and choices that come into play.
“I’ve always been process-driven. Cricket and life are both about the process, as far as I can tell. “You can’t always choose what life throws at you, but you can choose your process, your values, and how you react to it,” he wrote.
“Our thoughts come from how we feel. Those thoughts dictate our choices, and our decisions determine our behaviour. “By focusing on a process, we can be intentional about living the values that lead to the kinds of actions we need to take to get the result we want,” Faf du Plessis said.
