Even though former India bowler Harbhajan Singh recently said that KS Bharat should play in the World Test Championship final against Australia instead of Ishan Kishan, the 42-year-old has now said that he doesn’t trust Bharat’s batting skills enough. He believes that Ishan Kishan can play daring cricket like Rishabh Pant, so the Rohit Sharma-led team should consider including him in the championship game.
Bharat has played in four Test matches for India so far, but he has not yet made a big difference. Kishan, on the other hand, hasn’t played in the biggest version of the game yet, but he was in good form in the just-ended IPL 2023, so Harbhajan Singh thinks he’ll make it into India’s playing XI for the WTC final.
“Why should Ishan Kishan be given more attention than Bharat? I think this will make batting stronger because Ishan Kishan is much better at hitting the ball than Bharat. He is also a starter, and he is in good shape. So, if the second new ball comes out after 80 overs and Ishan walks out to bat, he can play as an opener.
“Rishabh Pant is a powerful hitter, and Ishan is also like that. Harbhajan Singh said on his YouTube account, “Bharat is great behind the wickets, but I don’t have much faith in his batting.”
Also, Australia’s best bowler, Josh Hazlewood, has been taken out of the tournament before the final. Michael Neser will replace him on the team, and Scott Boland is expected to take Hazlewood’s place in the starting lineup.
When it comes to Team India, the players haven’t gotten hurt yet. Before the final, which starts on June 7, the team was working in Arundel until Saturday, June 3. Now, they are getting ready at The Oval.
