David Warner will be pleased with his innings, which will provide him with a great deal of confidence: Ganguly

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly lauded the aggressive innings of Australian opener David Warner in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final. The one-off Test between India and Australia has already begun at The Oval in London on Wednesday, June 7. After being requested to bat first, Warner gave the Pat Cummins-led team a great start despite an early setback from Usman Khawaja. Mohammed Siraj dispatched Khawaja, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy’s leading run scorer, for a duck off ten balls. Warner commanded Australia after his departure and formed a crucial partnership with Marnus Labuschagne.

The 36-year-old’s 60-ball, 43-run innings included eight fours. After lunch, however, the keeper-batsman, KS Bharat, caught a cut down the leg side from the batter.

Ganguly stated that the Australian opener entered the game under a great deal of duress. Then he praised Warner, labelling him the best batsman on the Australian team. The former captain of India added that the Australian has played more than one hundred Test matches, scored more than twenty Test centuries, and performed admirably for his 43 runs.

“David Warner entered the WTC Final while under some duress. There were rumours that he would play two or three Test matches before being removed from the team. However, he has been an outstanding batsman for the Australian team. He has played more than a hundred Test matches and scored more than twenty Test centuries (25), and I thought he batted exceedingly well,” Ganguly said during the lunch break.

The Director of Cricket for the Delhi Capitals (DC) went on to say that Warner’s strength was Umesh Yadav’s weak lengths. He added that the Australian is an exceptional cutter and puller and that he will be delighted with his innings, which will give him a great deal of confidence. He added that the DC captain is a cheerful individual who does not tolerate much duress and always smiles.

“Umesh bowled short to him, which has been his strength. I believe he will be pleased with his innings, which will provide him with a great deal of confidence for the remainder of the season. I believe he performed admirably in his few at-bats.

“David Warner is a bit unconventional. He is a cheerful person who does not tolerate much stress; he is always beaming. “This is a significant summer for him,” concluded Ganguly.
