The schedule for the Lanka Premier League 2023 has been released, and the final will be on August 20.

On Sunday, June 18, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) released the much-anticipated schedule for the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023. The fourth season of the top league will start on Sunday, July 30. There will be 24 games, with the championship game happening on Sunday, August 20.

In the first game, the Jaffna Kings and Colombo Strikers will go head-to-head at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, July 30. Jaffna Kings has won the tournament three times and is the reigning champion. Notably, the first two games will be played in Colombo, and then a number of games will be played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

Colombo will once again host the most important parts of the league, such as the knockout rounds. In case something bad happens, the final will be played on Monday, August 21.

Before the knockout games, each of the five teams (Jaffna Kings, Colombo Strikers, B-Love Kandy, Dambulla Aura, and Galle Titans) will play each other twice in a double round-robin. Notably, the top four teams in the Lanka Premier League Points Table will move on to the IPL-style playoffs for Qualifier 1 and Eliminator.

At the sale, which took place on June 14 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo and just ended, the five people who signed up got their whole teams. Dilshan Madushanka was passed over in the first round of the auction, but the Jaffna Kings paid a record $92,000 to get him in the hurried round. He was then the most expensive player ever bought at an auction.

Both teams have added top cricket players to their teams and look strong on paper, but it’s still not clear which team will win the title in the end. Also, it will be interesting to see if the other teams can stop the Jaffna Kings from being the best team in the league. Since the league started, the Jaffna Kings have won three titles in a row.
