Nathan Lyon has been an important part of Australia’s Test team for close to 12 years. Lyon has taken 495 wickets in 121 Test games. He did well in the first Test at Edgbaston, which is part of the current Ashes series. He ended the match with match figures of 8/229.
After the first Test, Australian captain Pat Cummins said more than once that Lyon made a difference. When the second Test starts on Wednesday, June 28, the off-spinner will try to keep making things hard for the English hitters.
When England and Australia played each other at Lord’s in 2019,Nathan Lyon took three wickets in the first test but none in the second. The 35-year-old said that he likes bowling at the famous stadium and also explained how bowlers can use the slope of the ground to their benefit.
“I really like bowling here because we can use the slope to our benefit. I think you can bowl with it and try to make it spin more, or you can bowl up and use the angles to try to get both sides in. I don’t think one end has to be for spin bowlers and the other for fast bowlers. You have to be able to change and really enjoy the challenge of playing with it or against it. So I think we can use it as a tool,” Nathan Lyon was quoted by ESPN cricinfo as saying.
“But we don’t know what the pitch will look like on the first day, or if it will be cloudy or something else. So if the seamen do the work and I don’t have to do much, that’s fine, but I’m happy to put my hand up and try when things get tough,” he said.

Nathan Lyon has been Australia’s best player, even when the weather hasn’t been good for him. But Lord’s has been one of the few places where the soldier has had a little trouble. Lyon has only taken six wickets in two Test matches at the “Home of Cricket.” He has thrown 70.1 overs at the “Home of Cricket.”
His economy rate at Lord’s is 3.56, which is a lot higher than his career rate of 2.94. Even Lyon’s economy as a whole in England is only worth 3.00. It will be interesting to see how Pat Cummins uses his best spinner to stop the English bowlers who are coming at him.
