The much-anticipated ODI World Cup will begin on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad against England and New Zealand. The ICC (International Cricket Council) recently announced the schedule for the competition. South Africa would also like to overcome their World Cup curse. In their tournament opener on October 7 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, under the direction of Temba Bavuma, the squad will face the second qualifying team from the qualifiers.
Before the marquee tournament, captain Temba Bavuma reflected on the privilege of guiding South Africa in the premier international cricket tournament. Despite their track record, Temba Bavuma is confident that the team has what it takes to win the championship.
“Representing your country in the Cricket World Cup is a dream come true for any player, but to captain your country on the sport’s grandest stage is an accomplishment beyond most players’ wildest imaginations.”
Temba Bavuma told the ICC, “This will be my first 50-over Cricket World Cup, and I am humbled to be entrusted with the task of leading the group of men we will have come September. The road to success is never linear, and we’ve had our ups and downs on the road to qualification, but the important thing is that we have qualified and we are in it to win.”
