After a rare ODI series loss at home, Nic Pothas urges patience.

After Bangladesh‘s ODI team lost the home series against Afghanistan with one game remaining, assistant coach Nic Pothas urged patience. After losing an ODI series at home for just the second time since 2015, Bangladesh is now desperate to avoid a humiliating 3-0 scoreline.

“We forget that we’ve beaten England, India, and Ireland in series quite easily. On the basis of two games, we are rating elite cricketers. Make sure to judge them objectively and over an extended period of time. Not two games,” Pothas said to the media prior to the third ODI on Monday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

The closest form of cricket to international play is, arguably, county and state cricket. The jump is still quite large. The execution quickens as you approach international cricket. Foreign bowlers will notice the crack in your armor.

These processes take time. A fish would ultimately learn how to walk if I took it out of the water. It will be modified. Although Makhaya Ntini wasn’t very excellent when he first started, if you let him perform at that level for a while, he would adjust since he has a limit. The ceilings are pretty high for these men. That’s why we have faith in them,” he continued, adding that Afif Hossain’s failure to make an impact in his comeback ODI with scores of 4 and 0, respectively, had made him unprepared for many substitutions.

It is a selector’s question. No thanks. Afif has engaged in two matches. Players will feel under pressure if we constantly change things up. Players require your confidence. The team’s balance versus various opponents will be a key factor in determining who plays at No. 7. Every game is different. The selectors should answer that question, he added.

Nic Pothas stated that he believes his team’s learning will be accelerated by playing against the spin trio of Afghanistan. Rashid is now ranked seventh, Mujeeb is tied for eighth, and Nabi is ranked tenth in the ICC ODI bowling rankings.

If we are being honest, they have the best spin attack in the world, in my opinion. That is a simple fact. These three men have participated in numerous international white-ball cricket matches. Everybody executes their duty when they are given the ball, which is a captain’s dream. We have a significant advantage over them technically because of the obstacles they’ve provided. We will improve as a result. If you can handle this degree of spin, you can handle anyone, Nic Pothas added.

They continue to attack us. There is no other team in the world with three spinners of this caliber who are always advancing on you. For our team, it is highly advantageous. Despite being ranked lower than us, two of those spinners are among the top three in the world. We have a really optimistic viewpoint when it comes to it.

“Progress will always be made, but under pressure, you inevitably revert to typing. All of this takes time. I recognize your desire for it to happen soon. The process takes time. People who have participated in 200 ODIs are still learning today. It won’t take place right away. The young generation of batters, which will play at a very high level for Bangladesh for another 10-15 years, is what excites me, he remarked.

Nic Pothas was quick to point out that the majority of batsmen from all around the world have trouble facing Afghanistan’s spin trio and offered some sympathy to his side. It’s not a question of whether we battled, in my opinion, he said. “The issue is how the world tries to choose them. The place they are ranked in the world will show you how difficult it is for people to choose them.

Mujeeb was with me when we arrived at Middlesex. I found it difficult to pick him up from behind even after I started speaking to him like a wicketkeeper. Could Muralitharan choose Shane Warne for everyone? They are the greatest because of this. Due to the high stakes involved in mystery spin, every competition in the world does so. The question is, how will it improve us, and what are we going to do about it? ” he said.

Farooqi is practicing dying, says Hamid

Hamid Hassan, the Afghanistan bowling coach, stated on Monday that he is impressed with pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi and that they are working with him to consistently deliver at the death. At an economy rate of 2.8 and three, respectively, Farooqi took six wickets in the first two games (three in each game).

“Definitely (proud), every coach and every team should be proud of the way he (Farooqi) bowled in the two games,” Hamid remarked. He had difficulty against Sri Lanka because he hadn’t played many ODIs. Nevertheless, we had a great training camp in Abu Dhabi, and he was well-prepared. All of the participants, including Fazal. He’s back and finding his right groove, which makes me delighted. He will hopefully be our star and the most important bowler in the Asia Cup and the World Cup that we are aiming for.

“To be really honest, he has talent and has played cricket all over the world. Second, he’s a quick learner and will put into practice anything you tell him to improve his bowling. On his death row, I’m working. He had some difficulties in the past, but he is a lot better today and his skills have improved. Therefore, he is capable of bowling even when he is dead.

Hamid continued, saying that the team’s desire for the forthcoming two international competitions has grown as they aim to make an impact at both the Asia Cup and the World Cup.

“We believe we were Bangladesh one step ahead. I understand that beating Bangladesh in Bangladesh is difficult, but we worked incredibly hard for it, spending five to six hours a day in training. Most importantly, we had faith in our teammates and in ourselves.

The most crucial factor for anyone is that. You can overcome anything if you have faith in yourself. Now that the team is functioning so well, we are looking for a much better outcome. Afghanistan is known to the entire world. They are giving their all and battling their hardest. We can have more hope if these players provide it to us. Our hitters are excellent. Afghanistan should benefit from this World Cup; one can only hope. We might be able to achieve some success in a few games.
