11th July 2023, Brampton/Mumbai: After a three-year break, the third Global T20 Canada is scheduled to resume play on July 20. This edition, which will feature six franchisees, will be held at the CAA Centre in Brampton. The Mississauga Panthers are making their official tournament debut. The team is poised to make a lasting impression on both supporters and competitors thanks to the hiring of former South African all-rounder Lance Klusener as head coach.
Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik, and James Neesham are just a few of the finest players on the 16-man roster from all over the world. Along with the Mississauga Panthers, other teams competing this season are the Toronto Nationals, Brampton Wolves, Montreal Tigers, Vancouver Knights, and fellow rookies, the Surrey Jaguars.
“I am very excited to be part of the Mississauga Panthers team, and I am looking forward to the atmosphere at the stadium and all the fans that will come out to support our team,” former Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik said when asked about his excitement about playing for the Panthers.
Legends of the sport from around the world have also indicated their interest in watching the intensely competitive competition take place. Shivnarine Chanderpaul, one of the best left-handers in the Caribbean, will represent the event alongside Brian Lara. “I am super excited to be a brand ambassador for the upcoming season of Global T20,” he added in reference to his affiliation. The competition promises to be exciting, and all six teams look fantastic.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul praised the project as a way for Canadian homegrown T20 heroes to practice their craft among some of the best players in the world. “Across all six teams, we have players with big names like Chris Gayle, Harbhajan Singh, Shahid Aridi, and Shoaib Malik competing alongside outstanding Canadians like Rizwan Cheema, Pargat Singh, and Saad Bin Zafar.”
A great blend of experience and potential makes up the Mississauga Panthers team. The team also includes potential young players like the hard-hitting Azam Khan and the dangerous Shahnawaz Dahani from Pakistan, in addition to iconic legends like Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik, and James Neesham. Along with Nikhil Dutta, Jaskaran Singh Bhuttar, and Cecil Parvez, to name a few, Ethan Gibson is one of the younger players from Canada.
