Third One-Day International between England and New Zealand, 2023: Player Records and Upcoming Milestones

On September 13, 2023, The Oval in London will host the third of a four-match ODI series between England and New Zealand. With one victory apiece, both sides are currently tied (1-1) in the series.

England defeated New Zealand by 79 runs because to explosive performances from Liam Livingstone (95 off 78) and Sam Curran (42 off 35). David Willey and Reece Topley both took three wickets for their bowling teams, while Moeen Ali took two. When England plays New Zealand in the third ODI, they will try to keep up their momentum.

The bowling efforts of Moeen Ali, Willey, and Topley were also a significant contributor to England’s triumph in the second ODI. They managed to hold New Zealand to a disappointing score and took wickets when it mattered most. Livingstone’s performance was especially spectacular since he challenged the New Zealand bowlers and crushed them. He scored nine fours and a six throughout his brilliant innings.

But in the third ODI, New Zealand will try to recover. The only BlackCaps batter to significantly contribute was Daryl Mitchell, who scored a steady fifty-seven off 52 balls. He was the only batter to score at a rate more than one run per ball, hitting six fours and one six.

Mitchell’s innings, however, fell short of helping New Zealand win the game. The other New Zealand batsmen had trouble getting going, and they were all out for poor totals. Trent Boult, a left-arm pacer, was New Zealand’s best bowler, taking three wickets in his seven overs. Boult was especially good at getting the ball to travel in both directions with his swing bowling.

The third One Day International is anticipated to be a tight match between two evenly matched teams. The winning team will be the one that can adjust to the environment and play their best cricket.

Prior to the third One-Day International between England and New Zealand, the following statistics and figures should be noted:

Head-to-Head:

93 One Day Internationals have been played between England and New Zealand. There have been 44 victories for New Zealand, 42 victories for England, three ties, and four games with no outcomes. New Zealand has won 13 games whereas England has won 18, with one draw and two no-result matches. In the overall head-to-head record, New Zealand has a tiny advantage, but England has a better record inside of England.

To get 1000 ODI runs, Devon Conway (858), needs 142 more runs.

98-year-old Devon Conway needs two more fours to reach 100 in ODIs.

Ben Stokes (2977) must get 23 runs in order to reach 3000 all-time in ODIs.

Ben Stokes (49) must make one more catch to get 50 catches in ODIs.

Joe Root (46) must hit four more sixes to reach 50 maximums in ODIs.

Joe Root (496) needs four fours to reach his 500th ODI four.

Joe Root (938) needs 62 more runs against New Zealand to get 1000 ODI runs.

3 – Ben Stokes (297) needs three more scalps to reach 300 across all formats.

Moeen Ali (193) must hit seven more fours to reach 200 in ODI cricket.
