It didn't feel like an India-Pak World Cup match, but like a bilateral BCCI match: Mickey Arthur

The management of the Pakistani squad has expressed their anger and criticism openly after learning that there were no Pakistani fans present at the Narendra Modi Stadium for their World Cup match against India. Mickey Arthur, the team’s director, stated his worry that, rather than being a true world championship run by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the event appeared to be more of a bilateral gathering put on by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“Look, if I said it did, I’d be lying. Honest to God, it didn’t seem like an ICC event. It appeared to be a BCCI tournament and a bilateral series. After Babar Azam’s team lost to India by seven wickets, Mickey Arthur remarked, “I didn’t hear Dil Dil Pakistan come through the mics too often tonight. He was responding to a query about whether the presence of a sizable 130,000 partisan crowd affected their performance.

“So yes, that does play a role, but I’m not going to use that as an excuse because for us it was about living the moment, it was about the next ball and it was about how we were going to combat the Indian, the Indian players tonight,” the player from South Africa stated. Mickey Arthur left it unclear as to whether or not such a thing should have been permitted to occur at all. I’m not sure I can remark on that just now, look. I do not want to incur a fine.

The lack of Pakistani supporters has been a hot topic in the run-up to the World Cup, and the BCCI has come under fire for failing to work with the Indian government to acquire travel authorizations for Pakistani supporters. Only approximately a dozen Pakistani journalists were able to attend this match due to an extraordinary delay in the acceptance of their visas.

The Pakistan coach concurred with Mickey Arthur opinions.

“That was obviously going to be the case. We are quite disappointed that our fans aren’t present since both they and the Indian cricket community would enjoy having our fans here. The absence of any music that we were familiar with was undoubtedly unique. In other words, it didn’t feel like a World Cup game. Nothing else was anticipated by us. Grant Bradburn stated, “We love the occasion and we are unhappy that we did not do the occasion or our many admirers at home and around the world credit.

Without holding back, Mickey Arthur acknowledged that Pakistan was the second-best team in the match. “I believed we were a touch hesitant. We could have maybe fought off the Indian spinners a little bit more, in my opinion. We needed to apply more pressure because the wicket didn’t turn dramatically. However, they continued to build in a wonderful manner. We must acknowledge that there are always two ways to skin a cat. And we’ve achieved success by going all in and then making money later. The fact that we didn’t play the Pakistan Way tonight disappointed me because it has always been our brand and our approach.

Arthur also lauded the Indian team, saying that he thought Rohit Sharma’s team was a contender, and expressed the hope that his team will participate in the championship match. “This Indian cricket team is very, very good. They are being well-led, in my opinion, by Rahul and Rohit. They appear good to me. I believe they have everything covered, and I’m eager to play against them again in the championship game,” he remarked.
