The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has filed a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding disorderly crowd behavior during the match, which will be played as part of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. This seems to be the latest development in the issue surrounding the high-tension encounter between India and Pakistan. Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan were treated to disrespectful behavior by the spectators during the game on Saturday, October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Mickey Arthur, the director of the Pakistani squad, expressed dismay with the lack of fan support for his team in the biggest stadium in the world after the game. The Pakistan Board also filed a second formal protest regarding the lack of a visa policy for supporters and the delays in granting Pakistani journalists’ permits.

Three days after the game, the PCB eventually made the decision to take action against it and reported the incident to the ICC.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged another formal protest with the ICC over delays in visas for Pakistani journalists and the absence of a visa policy for Pakistan fans for the ongoing World Cup 2023,” the PCB noted when announcing the situation on their X account. The PCB has also complained about improper behavior directed at the Pakistan team during the India vs. Pakistan game on October 14, 2023.

A viral video from the game showed the crowd screaming “Jai Shree Ram” (Hail Lord Ram!) while Rizwan was making his way back to the pavilion. Of note during the game, Pakistan captain Babar was jeered after the toss. Arthur criticized the crowd’s behavior after the game by referring to it as a “BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) event” rather than a “ICC event.” Additionally, he took issue with the fact that “Dil Dil Pakistan” was not played at the game’s venue.

India defeated Pakistan in the ODI World Cup 8-0.

Resuming the game, Pakistan, who was given the opportunity to bat first, was dismissed for 191 in 42.5 overs after experiencing a stunning collapse from 155/2 at one point. In response, India successfully defended the goal in 30.3 overs thanks to captain Rohit Sharma’s sensational 86 from 63 balls. With the victory, India improved to an 8-0 record over Pakistan in ODI World Cup matches.
