On Friday, October 20, at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Match 18 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will pit Australia and Pakistan against one another. Australia was invited to bat first by Pakistan captain Babar Azam after winning the toss on a fantastic batting surface. As Australian openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh engaged in a huge opening stand of 259 runs off 203 balls, the choice severely backfired.
As he neared his 21st ODI hundred, David Warner in particular appeared to be in imperious form.
The southpaw stole a single from Mohammad Nawaz in the 31st over of the game to attain the milestone. Notably, it was his fourth consecutive hundred against Pakistan in one-day internationals, and the opening batsman jumped in the air in joy as he did so. As the Bengaluru crowd yelled his name loudly, Warner also performed the iconic gesture from the film “Pushpa” to commemorate the 100.

Warner continued to play a brilliant innings, scoring 163 off 124 balls while blasting 14 fours and 9 sixes. He moved up to sixth place on the list of the tournament’s top run scorers thanks to his knock. With one half-century, the 36-year-old has now amassed 228 runs in four innings at an average of 57 and a strikeout rate of 109.
Shaheen Afridi recorded his third ODI career five-wicket haul.
Mitchell Marsh, his partner, provided him with excellent assistance by scoring his second ODI hundred as well. Marsh went on to score 121 off 108 balls, using ten fours and nine sixes in the process.
No other batsman could surpass 21 following the conclusion of their significant partnership, however, and Australia’s innings ended with a score of 367/9. Shaheen Afridi, who picked up his third five-wicket haul in ODIs, was Pakistan’s top bowler. The left-arm seamer recorded 5/54 in ten overs, and Haris Rauf added three more wickets with 3/83 in eight overs.
