Former England captain Michael Vaughan attacked former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Hafeez for calling veteran player Virat Kohli “selfish” following the veteran’s century against South Africa on November 6 at Kolkata’s storied Eden Gardens. The great batsman Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI record and his fifty-ninth century in the format were identical.
Hafeez highlighted how Kohli hit the three-figure mark throughout the match to support his claim that he was selfish when playing against the Proteas.
“This World Cup has seen three instances of Virat Kohli’s selfishness in his batting, in my opinion. He didn’t prioritize the team in the 49th over, instead aiming to take a single to attain his individual century. Because he is playing for Team India and not for himself, Rohit Sharma avoided playing selfish cricket, according to Hafeez.
In response to Hafeez’s statement, Michael Vaughan declared that the cricket player from Pakistan had made “utter nonsense” remarks.
The English batsman praised Kohli for his outstanding performance as well, calling it an anchor-type innings.
