Bangladesh’s women’s cricket team has recently demonstrated improvement. Earlier in 2023, they won a T20I against the Women in Blue after five years and defeated India in ODI cricket for the first time. In the third-place playoff match, they triumphed over Pakistan to secure the bronze medal at the Asian Games. In an ODI and T20I series, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan 2-1 after that.
The women of Nigar Sultana will want to keep improving when they go to South Africa in December to play three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and as many ODIs. The 2022–25 Women’s Championship includes the ODI series. Bangladesh is now ranked seventh with three victories from twelve games, while South Africa is currently ranked fifth with seven wins from nine games.
The 16-woman team that will travel to South Africa includes seasoned all-rounder Lata Mondal. Her most recent assignment was against Pakistan, but she was not there for the July ODI series against India.
Sharmin Akhter, left-arm pacer Fariha Trisna, opener Nishita Akter, 15, who debuted in the Pakistan series, and left-arm spinner Sanjida Akter have been nominated as reserves. The player who started the T20I match against Pakistan, opener Shathi Rani, has been omitted.
The first Twenty20 international match of Bangladesh’s white-ball tour of South Africa is scheduled for December 3 in Benoni. On December 6 and 8, Kimberley will host the final two Twenty20 Internationals. The first match of the ODI phase will take place in East London on December 16. The second ODI will take place in Potchefstroom, and on December 23, the action will shift back to Benoni for the third and final ODI.
With just two victories in 18 ODIs and one in eleven T20Is, Bangladesh will try to improve their appalling record against the Proteas
