After his team won the 2023 World Cup, Adam Zampa made a playful jab at former Australia captain Michael Clarke. Notably, after Australia’s opening World Cup losses to South Africa and India, Clarke voiced some reservations about the team’s ability to succeed on subcontinent wickets.

Clarke had issued a warning, saying that the team will be subject to the same criticism as the Wallabies rugby team if they did not improve. “If we are not careful, the conversation we have been having about the Wallabies the last three weeks will be having about the Australian cricket team in two weeks’ time,” Clarke stated.

But Australia persevered and won their sixth World Cup, proving their tenacity and capacity for comebacks as they won nine straight games, including the two elimination rounds.

After the win, Adam Zampa, who is renowned for having a humorous personality, took to social media to playfully mock Clarke.

“We will be laughable if we are losing to South Africa and the subcontinental teams with that kind of performance. If we’re not careful, in two weeks we’ll be having the same conversation we’ve been having for the past three weeks about the Wallabies about the Australian cricket team. We ought to have traveled to India while we were at our best,” Zampa stated.
