In the first Twenty20 International (T20I) of the five-match series against Australia, Rinku Singh once again demonstrated his outstanding finishing abilities at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, leading India to a two-wicket victory. India lost five wickets in 13 balls as they collapsed in the final three overs of their chase of a mammoth 209 runs.
Rinku Singh, though, maintained his composure in the middle and helped India win with a cameo of 22* off 14 balls.
Since his five-sixes on Yash Dayal in the IPL 2023, the 26-year-old has established a reputation for seeing games out for his team. After Rinku produced yet another outstanding performance, former Indian cricketer Abhishek Nayar commended him for his maturity in spite of his lack of international experience.
“something is his third time doing something for India; each time, when India needed him to do something exceptional, he showed up. Although he hasn’t played international cricket for five to seven years, Nayar on JioCinema remarked, “He has the maturity and skillet of someone who has played that long.”
Speaking ahead, Nayar praised him for maintaining his composure under duress and assuming the role of finisher, following MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya.
Nobody has performed the finisher’s role as well as this person. Nayar
It indicates to you that he is an expert at completing an inning. Nobody has performed the finisher’s role as brilliantly since Hardik and MS Dhoni did it for us a long time ago, but it’s not easy. It’s not just the runs he scores; it’s also how he scores them. He went on, “There’s a certain calm and composure about the way he’s playing cricket.”
Rinku Singh has demonstrated his ability to finish well in the three innings he has played in international cricket so far, scoring 38 (21), 37* (15), and 22* (14) in significant cameos. The cricketer from Aligarh will be keen to build on his performance in the series’ remaining matches in order to solidify his place in the team for the T20 World Cup in 2024.
