Imad Wasim, an all-rounder for Pakistan, shocked cricket fans worldwide when he recently announced his retirement from the game. In response to the news, former cricket player Rashid Latif expressed his dismay on X (previously Twitter) and urged Imad to change his mind and resume playing for Pakistan.
Interestingly, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz were selected ahead of Imad in Pakistan’s ODI World Cup roster. Despite having a weak spin attack, the Pakistani team management chose not to choose him for the major competition in India, which has reportedly affected the cricket player, who was in excellent form in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Latif, meanwhile, referred to Wasim as Pakistan’s top spinner, who is also a useful batsman. Additionally, he said that although Mohammad Hafeez, the recently appointed director of cricket, wants Imad to be involved in the bigger picture, the Pakistani squad will suffer greatly if he follows through on his plans.
“Imad Wasim should reconsider his decision to retire. He is the finest spin bowler for the Pakistani team and may be a valuable batsman. It is a loss for Pakistan, not for Imad, if the team’s most productive player is absent from the World Cup. It is Mohammad Hafeez’s desire that they return Imad. Latif wrote on “X” that he would like to play leagues and would like to stay available for the Pakistani squad while separating from the central contract.

Imad Wasim has taken 109 wickets while playing for Pakistan in 121 international matches. Additionally, he has 1472 runs scored in white-ball style.
The cricket player wished everyone luck as the squad goes through a transitional period and thanked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their support over the years. Shan Masood has been handed the baton for red-ball cricket, and Shaheen Shah Afridi has been named the T20I captain in place of Babar Azam, who resigned as team captain.
