Rinku Singh, the newest batting sensation in India, has established a reputation for pulling off thrilling comeback victories for his side. The 26-year-old rose to prominence in the IPL 2023 as he hit five straight sixes against Yash Dayal, orchestrating an unlikely victory for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In August 2018, after making his international debut in a T20I against Ireland, he was called up to the national team due to his incredible performance in the T20 spectacular.
The southpaw has also excelled in the current five-match Twenty20 International versus Australia, where he has made appearances for India in the first and second Twenty20 Internationals at 22* (14) and 31* (9). Andre Russell, a teammate of Rinku Singh’s at KKR, has also praised the daring batsman. He recently disclosed that he is watching the India vs. Australia series to see Rinku Singh bat.
“I’ve been watching the Twenty20 Internationals between Australia and India, and if I miss anything, I usually watch the highlights for Rinku. The things that Rinku is doing don’t surprise me. Years ago, he became a member of the KKR. We could see his potential every time he batted in the nets or during practice sessions. Russell would make such big shots, the Hindustan Times cited him as saying.
Russell continued by praising Rinku Singh for seizing chances at the IPL and international levels and predicting that he would become an even greater player in the future.
But having that chance, doing well on a large platform, winning games after games in the Indian Premier League, and finishing strong all give him the confidence that every player aspires to. He’s been an amazing member of the squad. Seeing someone so young, with such a strong love for the game, perform so admirably while donning the blue is encouraging. And as the years pass, I believe he will continue to develop and become an even better player,” he continued.
In his career thus far, Rinku Singh has a strike rate of 216.
Most notably, Rinku has participated in eight Twenty20 internationals and amassed 128 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 216.94. In his four batting appearances in international cricket thus far, he has scored 38 (21), 37 (15), 22 (14) and 31 (9). In the fourth Twenty20 International against Australia in Raipur, the batsman from Aligarh will be itching to produce another outstanding performance and help India win the series.
