Prior to the 2019 season, Royal Challengers Bangalore released Harshal Patel following a dismal year with the ball in the IPL 2023. After paying INR 11.75 crore at auction for the pacer, Punjab King has been the subject of much debate on whether the player is being overpaid following a disappointing season. Speaking about the same subject, former South African captain AB de Villiers claimed that Harshal Patel is not overpriced because he is an excellent T20 cricketer.
Because the weather in Mohali and Dharamsala is far better than in Bengaluru, the 39-year-old thinks Harshal will prosper there.
He also mentioned how Harshal Patel has some very lethal bouncers in his ranks and that he is excellent with slower balls.
Harrison is aiming for a very nice ₹11.75 crore. That isn’t overpaying, in my opinion. He is an excellent player. He’s a fantastic Twenty20 cricketer. He’s also a good cricket ball hitter. AB de Villiers stated on his YouTube channel that “his slower ball is confusing a lot of batters.”
Yes, without a doubt. He is a complete success. His X-factor slower ball soars above nearly eye level and descends swiftly below. It was almost like what Dwayne Bravo used to have. In addition, he said, “He’s not afraid to use his very fast bouncer.”
In the auction, the Punjab Kings added eight new players.
In the meantime, Punjab has added five uncapped players: Chris Woakes (INR 4.20 crore) and Rilee Rossouw (INR 8 crore). Shashank Singh caused a great deal of controversy since the franchise was at a loss over what to do with him when the hammer fell. They made an effort to resolve the matter at the auction, but nothing came of it.
Though they were glad to sign the athlete in the end, they took it to X and explained that the mistake stemmed from the fact that two players had the same name. Shashank also shared his thoughts on the event and declared himself prepared to return to the team.
