At the IPL 2024 auction, Andy Flower, the head coach of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, spoke exclusively with JioCinema. Take a peek:
Upon paying Rs 11.5 crore for West Indies’ Alzarri Joseph
Cameron Green was a terrific find during the trade before the auctions. We took a go at Pat Cummins, but ultimately lost to a higher price. We are thrilled to have Alzarri and we are glad we went with him. He’s a competent operator. I’ve already worked with Faf (du Plessis) at Saint Lucia Kings, and I believe Faf has also collaborated with him in the SA20.
Regarding the Rs 5 crore inclusion of Yash Dayal
Regarding Yash Dayal, we witnessed a portion of his abilities last year, particularly in relation to his swing and ability to take wickets with the new ball. I am aware of his occasional struggles with death, but we think he has a lot of promise and expect great things from him.
Regarding whether the Royals will prioritize big-hitting with their current lineup of batsmen
We wanted to add some power to the middle order, which is why we brought Cameron Green on board. Therefore, we have that power if we have Maxwell and Green at 4 and 5. In addition to the obvious class of Patidar, Virat, and Faf up front, we have DK (Dinesh Karthik) at No. 6. That is an excellent top 6, in our opinion. It ought to be feasible for us to establish and pursue large totals.
Despite making it to the finals three times in the history of the lucrative competition, RCB has never taken home an IPL crown. Under the direction of Faf du Plessis, they will be putting their best foot forward in the 17th edition of the competition to win the prized trophy, having completed all of their buying in the recently ended IPL Auction.
